Structured prompt engineering using role, task, context, output, verification and restrictions. Practical understanding of how AI language models generate responses through prediction, tokens and context. Critical evaluation of AI outputs, including hallucinations, misinformation and confident errors. AI-assisted research, verification and summarising. Comparison of AI tools for writing, research, image, video and workflow support. Responsible AI use, including privacy, ethics, source checking and human supervision. Understanding bots, AI assistants and AI agents. Designing simple AI workflows and assistant specifications.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to explain how AI language tools generate responses through prediction, identify limitations such as hallucinations and confident errors, create structured prompts, choose suitable AI tools for research, writing, image, video and workflow tasks, conduct basic AI-assisted research, summarise and communicate findings, distinguish between bots, assistants and agents, design a simple AI workflow, recognise ethical risks such as privacy, bias and dependency, and demonstrate understanding through exercises, reflection and a final test.
