Essential Level: - Correct makharij al-huruf (points of articulation) - Understanding sifaat al-huruf (characteristics of letters) - Rules of noon saakinah & tanween (idgham, ikhfa, iqlab, idhar) - Rules of meem saakinah (idgham shafawi, ikhfa shafawi, idhar shafawi) - Basic madd (natural and simple elongations) - Qalqalah (echoing letters) Advanced Level: - Madd al-muttasil & munfasil, madd ‘arid, madd laazim - Subtle idgham & ikhfa nuances (e.g., in continuous flow) - Waqf (stopping) & Ibtida’ (starting) rules with practical application - Tajweed in connected recitation (avoiding common mistakes in tilawah) - Rhythm, fluency, and tarteel (measured, reflective recitation) - Self-correction and use of audio feedback
By the end of the course, students will be able to: - Recite the Qur’an with correct pronunciation and tajweed rules. - Identify and apply all major and minor tajweed rulings in real-time recitation. - Confidently self-assess and improve their tilawah using tajweed principles. - Understand the wisdom behind tajweed as a form of reverence for the Qur’an. - Prepare for ijazah (certification) or Qur’an memorization (hifz) with proper foundation. - Recite with beauty, clarity, and presence of heart (khushu‘).
