Develop practical skills in recognising early indicators of substance misuse, exploitation and contextual harm. Learn to identify root causes behind presenting behaviour, apply contextual safeguarding principles and use some tools from Formative Family Framework (FFF®) to assess safety, regulation, belonging and family functioning. Build confidence in engaging young people through professional curiosity, cultural humility and trust-building conversations. Strengthen decision-making, safety planning, reflective practice and multi-agency working using Croydon-specific intelligence, evidence-informed tools and real-life case scenarios to support earlier intervention and improve outcomes for young people.
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to identify early signs of substance misuse and contextual harm, understand the root causes behind presenting behaviour, and respond using evidence-informed, trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches. They will apply contextual safeguarding and the Formative Family Framework (FFF®) to assessment and intervention, build trusting relationships with young people, improve professional curiosity and decision-making, develop effective safety plans, and work more confidently across agencies. Participants will leave with practical tools they can apply immediately to strengthen early intervention and improve outcomes for young people across Croydon.
