Medical Learning Skills Academy
Issued 2 January 2026
This course develops a broad set of cognitive, clinical, and communication skills essential for safe and effective medical practice. Learners will acquire advanced physician–patient communication skills, including active listening, empathetic engagement, and the ability to elicit complete and accurate clinical histories, even in patients who may struggle to articulate their concerns. Mastery of medical terminology across body systems is reinforced, enabling learners to communicate professionally with colleagues while also recognizing the dynamic evolution of medical language. The course strengthens skills in structured anamnesis and physical examination, emphasizing logical sequencing and clinical relevance rather than checklist-based data collection.
Upon completion of this course, learners are expected to demonstrate measurable improvements in clinical reasoning, communication, and patient management. Learners will accurately use and interpret medical terminology, while also demonstrating the ability to explain diagnoses, investigations, and management plans in clear, understandable language for patients. They will competently perform focused anamnesis and physical examinations, integrating findings into meaningful clinical assessments. Graduates of the course will be able to construct well-reasoned differential diagnoses and justify diagnostic and imaging choices based on clinical context rather than routine practice.
