This talk will explore how evidence and data shape the future use of the seabed, balancing ecological protection and restoration with offshore renewable infrastructure deployment. Through real-world examples, they will show how the Whole of Seabed Evidence base integrates hundreds of datasets: from seabed habitats, to mobile marine species such as seabirds and marine mammals, to seabed geology, climate data and more. You’ll hear how GIS tools and spatial data analysis help identify areas of opportunity, model risk and impacts, and inform planning for offshore sectors. The speakers will highlight the challenge and opportunity of delivering net zero while safeguarding marine ecosystems and the need for collaboration across industries, digital innovation, and robust evidence.
