Key Skills

The 3-Day First Aid at Work (FAW) course equips learners with the practical skills and confidence to handle a wide range of workplace emergencies. Key skills include conducting a primary survey and risk assessment, performing CPR and using an AED, placing casualties in the recovery position, and managing choking, bleeding, and shock. Participants also learn how to treat fractures, sprains, burns, and scalds, as well as respond to seizures, fainting, asthma attacks, diabetic emergencies, and severe allergic reactions. Additional skills include wound care, infection control, and incident reporting. By the end of the course, learners can act swiftly and effectively in critical situations, reducing harm and promoting workplace safety.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the 3-Day First Aid at Work course, learners will be fully equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to act effectively in a wide range of workplace emergencies. They will be able to assess situations quickly, provide immediate life-saving interventions such as CPR, choking response, and bleeding control, and manage injuries including burns, fractures, and shock until professional help arrives. Participants will also understand how to use an AED, recognise major illnesses like heart attack, stroke, asthma, diabetes, and allergic reactions, and fulfil workplace reporting requirements. The outcome is a competent, accredited first aider who can reduce risks, save lives, and ensure compliance with UK health and safety regulations.
